home home

wow, is it nice to be back. It's always surprising to me when i feel like home is anywhere i have family, how very special MY home is to me. Is it the stuff? the memories? the idea of routine and comfort of our small intimate family? A little bit of everything I'm sure.
The trip back was fine, even with a 6hr layover in London and jet lag hasn't even been that bad amazingly. By not that bad, I mean... we are still getting up around 3:30am and going to bed at 7pm, but since we are all on the same schedule and don't have any responsibilities past 7pm it's working out just fine for us. We might even keep these hours as we are enjoying big breakfasts (thanks matthew for delicious, made-from-scratch banana pancakes this am!) early morning worship music and overall fun times. Yesterday morning we were all in bed at 5am trying to get some more rest when it became apparent each minute passing that we were NOT headed in the direction of sweet dreams and as we all realized this it got funnier and funnier until Abby burst out laughing, soon including matthew and i on the giggle party. Sigh, this is what family is :)
We visited Harrod's bears about 100 times in our short airport stay.
Carrie and Clyde were amazing to host us both before and after our trip, and the girls really enjoyed playing together.
Back home Abby is REALLY into "helping." Here she is actually unloading a full silverware cup into the correct bins in the drawer. Woah! Chores, here we come! :)
I was very inspired by a short visit with durham friends Crystal and Abby to make some more creative play spaces for my abby. This stove only took about 2 minutes to make, and Abby LOVES it!
Checking on her bread
Pancakes are served! "sit mommy, sit mommy!"

  1. Wow. This beautiful little girl will one day realize what amazing, creative parents she has. You're both so inspiring!

(I hope those weren't pancakes in the pan :-)

  2. Well done on the stove! Did you color the circles directly on or draw them somewhere else, cut, and paste?

She wants to cook! Sweet Miss Cuty childadult!

Did you see your cousin Isaac's box? Not a stove but a very nice martianchild house, ha, two very creative sibling parents. NICE WORK.
