boy gets a job!

Matthew loves his music, we all know that! So what has he been doing with it for the past few years? Playing most all of his instruments anywhere he can! Here are some pictures of what he's been up to...
Which all culminated to this year getting a great job leading worship for the Duke Youth Academy for 2 weeks over the summer, and this last week getting a year long part time job facilitating worship at a new Methodist church plant in Cary. We truly see this job as a gift from the Lord, as Matthew loved his summer DYA experience and was praying about being able to use his music more in his ministry and life. It is all happening in perfect timing too as he needed to let Duke know he wasn't doing field ed (where they find him a church to work at) this very week... and the church's kick-off date is next weekend! It's an exciting time for us, though we are sad to leave our church for the past 2 years.

Toby is a recorded musician who Matthew often accompanies on guitar, piano, bass, and trumpet.

Matthew helped lead the DYA retreat's music the first year, even before becoming the worship coordinator. We often think it interesting that trumpet used to be matthew's main instrument, and now it's the one he probably plays the least (but still played!)

This was just last Friday right before going to Maryland. It's matthew's most current and ongoing band, the Rockyoumentary Hypothesis (maybe he'll enlighten you as to the name) but it was a really fun show with a few bands from the divinity school at a large coffee shop.

Reynolds is a talented musician/song writer who lives a few doors away from us. Matthew occasionally plays piano with him. At this show Friday, Matthew played with 3 bands including Reynolds and Toby's!

I should probably work on photographing these neat events more... as it is, all these pictures were lifted from facebook, so thanks to everyone else who took and shared them!
