names....

what do you get when you put matthew's indecision and my impatience together?
a name change for Bebo! :)
While it takes some swallowing of pride for me at least, we are excited to have a new name for Bebo that we will be content with for life. Here's a little of the story...

Matthew and I have had our own favorite names picked out for a long time (Ezra and Matthias). We also love the family traditions of Martin and Benjamin for each of our two lines.
Back in August when we flipped to the September calendar and remembered Grandpa (Benjamin) Cornell's birthday on the 20th, we said that if Bebo somehow made it that long we should definitely name him Benjamin. He did in fact make it that long, and my entire labor (plus head out) happened on Grandpa's birthday. We were both still stuck on our own first names though and put Benjamin in the middle. It took having his name blogged about, put on his birth certificate and texted to us many times over to realize this was not the name we truly wanted for our little Bebo.

It was really surprising in the end to come together and see that moreover we love the idea of naming Bebo first and foremost Benjamin- for my humble, faithful and beautiful grandfather whose birthday he almost made. Jesus also came from the line of Benjamin... and matthew thinks "child of my pain" is not bad as the agony of labor is still fresh in his mind.
Secondly, matthew will forever feel a father/son connection to the name Matthias for the closeness to his own name, the beloved childhood red wall character, and being the 13th disciple of Jesus. We hope to use Benji as a nickname when/if Bebo ever gets old. Right now though Abby will not even CONSIDER the baby's name to be anything BUT Bebo, so that might be a while :)

Thanks for coming with us in this journey, and while maybe considering us a little crazy... loving us and little Benjamin Matthias Nickoloff anyway!
